AFRICAN CHAMPS DOWNS CLINCH A POINT IN TUNISIA IN CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

CAF Champions league champions,Mamelodi Sundowns managed to secure a point in ES Tunisia,at hey played out a 0:0 drew with Esperance on yesterday night.


The home side enjoyed most of the possession in the opening 16 minutes and looked threatening down the flank,although they failed to create a clear-cut chance.Sundowns eventually started seeing a bit of the ball after 27 minutes,but they failed to threaten in the final third.


The visitors should have taken the lead in the 34rd minute when the Esperance defence gifted the ball to Themba Zwane,who unselfishly teed up Percy Tau in the box but the midfielder Fired straight at Ben Cherifia.


Six minutes later,Denis Onyango was called into action as the Sundowns shot-Stopper produced a superb save to keep Ben Youssef's header.


Esperance ended the first half the stronger of two side,but the score remained goalless as the sides entered the break.The second half started in the same fashion as the first with Esperance dominating the possession statistic,while Sundowns looked to attack on the counter.


The hosts went close to breaking the deadlock after 66 minutes,but Ben Youssef's volley from distance sailed just wide of Onyango's goal.Chances were hard to come by for the clubs in the second half,which prompted Pitso Mosimane to introduce Thapelo Morena for Anthony Laffor after 76 minutes.


Esperance upper the tempo in the closing stagesas they pushed for a winning and they went close to scoring in the 88 minutes,but Onyango produced a goal save to deny the hosts a goal.Nevertheless,Sundowns managed to hold out till the final whistle to a point on the road.
